So this year, I thought it would be really cool if I decorated the house for Halloween. Usually my mother and I never give out candy and always turn off the door/porch light off so trick-or-treaters don’t come knocking on the door. (although they do regardless >_>) Anyways, I didn’t feel like buying anything too outrageous or expensive, so I decided to check out the local Wal*Mart and Dollar Store for “bargain” materials; how disappointed was I!

Everything, even down to these little cardboard tomb stones were about $5 dollars and up. I know, not THAT expensive, but for only one and it wasn’t even 3 feet tall, that’s pushing it. Other then that, I couldn’t find anything that wasn’t “party” or “haunted house” related, so left.

That’s when the idea hit me…I have friggin 1st grade arts and craft knowledge! Why not just make my own decorations from scratch and have exactly what I need! Perfect right? Well here is a little list for what I came up with and what you could do if you have yet to decorate the inside or outside of your house! Especially if you’re on a low or tight budget.

Materials:

  • Crayola Construction Paper
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Large or Medium Trash Bags
  • String/Yarn/Rope

Decorations:
Trash Bag Jack-O-Lanterns:
For this idea, I took the grass from my newly cut lawn and stuffed it into large black trash bags, since I live in Florida and don’t have those Fall leaves falling from trees, this is my substitute. This is a hint for all of those living in the North or who actually have the season of “Fall”.

Next I took orange/green/yellow construction paper and cut out larges eyes, mouth, and nose for the trash bags, making sure they were big enough to fit and be seen on the black trash bags. I then proceeded to glue the construction paper on the trash bags and wha-la! Instant large Trash Bag Jack-O-Lanterns for the front yard!

Bat, Witches, and Pumpkin Tree Hangers:
For this idea, I cut out large bat, witch, and pumpkin shapes on orange, green, red, and yellow construction paper. I then cut out a little hole on top of each one and found some orange yarn to put through the hole.

I then went outside and hung them from this tree on the side of our house and also in our front yard’s bushes. Of course you can color them or draw faces and what not. You can also tape them to the windows if you have no trees or bushes to hang them from!

Well, these were two great decorations I made that didn’t cost me dime, since I had all the materials in my house. Don’t be afraid to substitute any of the material use above with any easy to use household items that you own!

Good Luck. =)

It seems that the 9AM to 5PM job routine is finally starting to catch up with me. At first, I was excited to have a web related job again, but after two and a half months of working here, well it’s starting to take a little toll on me.

Not only that, but traffic from my job to my house is killer! Orlando traffic in general is killer, but when I worked in downtown Orlando, it wasn’t THAT bad like it is from my job here in Casselberry to my house by UCF (University of Central Florida), which seems to be quite the distance and there is no way to take shortcut.

So you can imagen how I feel by the time I get home ( which is a good hour later *sigh*). I need to start working out again, becuase I’m going to sleep pretty early and I wake up refreshed, but by the end of the day, I’m wiped out!

Yes, working out might just do the trick!

So, a little over two months ago my boyfriend’s brother’s cat got pregnant and had four gorgeous kittens. Three of the kittens were girls and only one a boy. Each had their own color of fur and personality, and I’m proud to say I was there to see them grow from birth all the way till they were given away.

Getting back to the main topic, my boyfriend decided to keep one for himself. At first he wasn’t sure which kitten to choose and me being a happy cat owner (and a nosy girlfriend) told him to go for the boy, since from experience, the boys are always more affectionate and playful.

So, from there on out he (we) decided to choose the boy, which was an orange and white tabby. Slowly as he grew we noticed that he was extremely playful and loved to run about and make all kinds of trouble with his sisters. At first Mike thought that he had made a mistake in choosing the orange kitty (Known as Fury now) since the cat would never play with us and very hyperactive. One of the kitties, who was all white except for a few gray spots, was always around us and would sometimes curl up in our laps and just sit there, something Fury didn’t do.

Anyways, after a while it was decided where all the kittens were going as people came to see them and had already chosen ones they wanted, leaving Fury to us no matter what. Personally, I wasn’t complaining as I thought and still do think Fury is the cutest kitty and a little extra energy never hurt anyone. Mike of course didn’t mind after a while and currently, Fury is leaving in my house with my other two kitties.

At first we were a little hesitant on leaving fury alone with Miss Miss and Midnight, since those two fight all the time and Miss Miss really doesn’t like other people or cats (hence she hates Midnight) but after watching them for a few days it seems that Fury is friends with both Miss Miss and Midnight. Something I was totally surprised by, since when I first got Midnight, Miss Miss would ALWAYS hiss at him and NEVER played with him like she does with fury.

Its really cute and I’m glad to have this new kitty, even though he doesn’t belong to me REALLY. Hehe, I’ll be posting pictures of him soon!
