Why I Blog!
Looking through my archives of posts, I notice that I tend to blog about the same things over and over again. It’s like updating strangers on a specific topic as though they were actually coming here to know the update. Sadly I wonder, is my blog interesting at all?
Sure I get the few random comments from websites I’ve never been to, but most of the time, those commentors never come back again, meaning my blogs aren’t interesting enough to come back to…why? Because I’m writing the same garbage over and over again. Only updating for those who care and those who don’t. Then I wonder, what am I getting out of this?
My answer?
Nothing, but simple self-satisfaction. Point, blank, and period.
I have no need to educate people, I don’t care about the latest trends or gadgets out in the world and if I keep up with something like the news, why the hell do I have to relay the message to you, when you can turn on your TV and see it yourself?
I blog, simply to release something so that I can sleep better at night. What that certain “thing” is, I have no clue, but I know it’s SOMETHING. I blog because, it keeps me busy and leaves me with something to do. I blog, not only because I love it, but because it just comes naturally. I don’t think I could ever spend a day, month, or year, without blogging. Whether it be here on my domain, Twitter, or the random 100-something forums I’m signed up with, I NEED to blog!
Self-Satisfaction. Point, blank, PERIOD.

I feel the same way about blogging. If people don’t read it, that’s fine. If people DO read it, that’s great. I blog to entertain myself… which sounds really pathetic. Haha But whatever! My posts are now more geared towards a group of regular readers but if they don’t respond, it doesn’t bug me at all. I’m just glad I was able to say what I wanted to say.
Don’t EVER make yourself feel like you have to blog for other people or JUST to make money. Blog for yourself

I agree. Blog for you because it makes you happy. Writing is great therapy and much less expensive than a therapist.

In the end, if it provides you with an outlet for the things that are bothering you, that’s all that matters!

Well, I must say my own blog (well this one that you’re hosting) is really more of a combination of self satisfaction and a form of entertainment mainly for regulars (or I would hope its entertaining). I try to keep my offline friends out of it or something too personal because it either really doesn’t belong in there or people just wouldn’t understand some of the comedy behind it because they lack the background. For those more personal stories, I use LJ… I wonder if this is all mumbo jumbo. Maybe its just me ultimately, wanting to leave a mark something saying how I did exist somewhere out there.
Besides, there’s nothing wrong with having a blog for self satisfaction purposes.

This is practically the reason why I blog too. Blogging/writing for me is a must, because I need a way to express myself. Of course for my deeper thoughts, I use an LJ. But for the most part, my domain’s for self-satisfaction and anti-relapse treatment.

I think all of the reasons why I blog mirrors yours too. I find that I’m a less stressed person when I writing (or in this case) typing something.

I totally get what you mean! I’ve been blogging in some form or another since like ’97. That’s like 11 years. I’ve often wondered why. I think it’s what you said!
