So Many Choices!

Not only have I been looking for a job, but also a school to go to. Now that I’ve graduated from Winter Park Tech, I’m ready to pursue my real career goal. I’m very interested in the film industry right now and am striving to do all I can in order to come out on top in this field.

My GPA (Grade Point Average) in high school was extremely low and I feel that if I were to apply for a four year university (NYU), then they wouldn’t really choose me to become a student there. So my thoughts and decision is to raise y GPA by taking a couple of classes in a community college. Here in Orlando there is a CC called Valencia, that has a couple of branches around Central Florida and is known to be a top school. There is also another extremely well known school here in Orlando called Full Sail. Both schools have a lot to offer, but at the moment I’m leaning more toward Full Sail. Full Sail is basically a cram school and the longest you can be there is two years. The best part, you can earn a bachelors degree in just these two years!

Their film department is a bachelors degree program. So I’m really interested in that.

At first, I was really interested in Valencia because a lot of my friends go there and said it was great school and environment. Also, like I said above, I need to raise my GPA. I’m really hoping that Full Sail can offer this (which it should) but then again the tech school I went to didn’t…so you never know unless you ask.

I’m going to be going to both schools for an open house and see how they are for myself. I hope my experience while there will be worth wile and that the best school shines brightly, so that my decision can be easier.

Man I remember when I was deciding on a school. It wasn’t so bad for me I guess ebcause my actual program was somewhat limited. I wanted to go far away, but I settled for somewhere a tad closer because I know I couldn’t really afford to go too far financially. There’s always my masters to do that if I choose to do it.

Open houses are great that way as long as your tour guide actually leads you well. Sometiems I feel like mine wasn’t as helpful as it could have been. Regardless of this, I don’t regret going to the university I chose at the moment.

I wish you best of luck with viewing both. Do they both offer the program you want though?

Oh you weren’t harassing xDD I meant to post earlier.. but never had enough time to actually just sit down and type the entry.

Definitely better to get them out early in my case because my roots havne’t fully set in, so that means I should be able to recover faster.

It’s a really a shame you’re allergic to bananas… Though not all smoothies have them. In fact, most of them that I’ve seen have orange juice more often than not.

As for the community colleges, that just makes it all the harder since both offer the class that you want. May the open house help you determine it easier then.

I know a couple of people that went to school at Valencia. It’s a great school and if you’re looking to up your gpa, going to community college is a great start.

I almost went to Full Sail before deciding to go to the school that I go to now (I wanted to stay in the Tampa area). I’ve heard really good things about it though.

Good luck with your job hunt! And your school hunt too! ;)

What about UF? Go to UF, UF, UF! When I was still living in Florida, it was my dream school (even though I preferred the Seminoles when it came to football) Don’t they have a good film program?

Might sound like a dumb question but did you take your SATS? Because a lot of colleges will go by that score as well if you feel your GPA isn’t up to par. What you can also do is join a 2 year college, take up a major that’s close to what you really want to do and ace the shit out of it. 3.5 GPA or better. THEN continue your education to an university. They will go by the GPA you received when you got your Associates degree.

Good luck in whatever you decide to do though!
